And she sleeps....
We will just pretend that she doesn't insist on Desperate Housewives ,otherwise known as "the boys", as her goodnight tv show

V-Day
As I have mentioned, Brian and I don't do that much for the Valentines Day. If we do anything it is never on the actual day...we never get a chance to celebrate any holiday on the actual day. One of the side affects of working in the hospitality industry I guess.
Growing up, my family never did much. We got a card and when we were younger my mom would place these cute little wooden boxes with Hershey kisses, etc. in them and that was basically it. I didn't grow up expecting much.
In the past with Brian we have mostly just gone out to dinner. I think we have exchanged gifts once...
This year I was expecting the same...to go out to dinner at somepoint but when I got home from work on Monday Brian informed me that he had gotten me a present. I was floored! We had not talked about getting gifts so I had assumed that we were not going to give gifts.
Brian had gotten me four pearls. One of Brian's first gifts to me was an Add-A-Pearl necklace and Brian informed me that these pearls are not for that necklace. The pearls I have recieved this holiday are larger then the pearls that belong to the necklace but are a lower quality apparently (they look really pretty). I got 2 6.0mm pearls and 2 5.0mm pearls. Brian want's me to come up with something to do with them like a ring, broach, earrings (can't do due to my ears), etc.
Brian also said that we would go out to dinner tonight to celebrate VDay but I am stuck trying figure out where I want to go.
I am completely stuck on what to do with these pearls! Any suggestions? And what do I get him?

Sunday 2/13
Every Sunday I go over to my friend Caroline's house and hang out with her family which includes Allyson who is my friend. Well...I am friends with the whole family but that started because of my friendship with Caroline and then her daugher Allyson.
Every Sunday is a blast. Caroline always cooks these fancy, complicated meals that turn out wonderfully. I get to hang out with Austin and Mady (Allyson's babies). And I get a chance to socialize with people who I can relate with. Caroline's family has become family to me and it is always great to hang with family.
This Sunday wasn't much different in terms of what we did or said but it has left a very special memory to me. I don't know if it was the 60 degree weather with the sun shining and blue sky or if it was the extra glass of wine ;) but last Sunday was SO much fun.
Caroline made cornbeef and cabbage and it was fabulous! I had two servings! I couldn't help myself! I have to steal the recipe! I played Harry Potter Leggos with Austin which was a blast. Chatted with the whole family over everything and nothing at the same time.
Austin and Allyson had to leave around 9pm as Austin has school. I usually leave when they do but this time I stuck around. It seemed really early so we all just had a great time talking and laughing and joking.

Nora Robert's Jewels of the Sun (Book 1 in the Irish Trilogy)
I just finished February's book. It took me a bit longer to read this one, not because it was not a good book but because I have had less time to read.
This is another Nora Robert's book and I loved it. It is about a woman, Jude, who lived/works/grew up in Chicago and moves to Ireland. Jude's first marriage failed and she went to Ireland to find herself with the idea of staying six months. The book then describes how she and a pub owner, Aidan Gallagher, become friends and their blossoming relationship. Through this relationship you become to know Jude, Aidan and the other characters very well. Another thing you get to read about are some of the myths and fables of the faeries which are always fun to read!
I can't tell you my guess on the next book in the trilogy because it will give the ending of this book away and that would not be fun :). I am sorry my descriptions are very generic. I am trying to write enough that you want to read it but not enough to give the story away :)
Over all I really liked this book and still really like Nora Robert's. I can't remember if I told you all this yet but one of our monthlies saw I was reading Nora Roberts and gave me a book she had finished reading! That book contains two of her books. I have not decided if I am going to count that as one book or two books for my resolution.

My 100th post
Can you believe it?
I sort of feel that I should have this meaningful, awe inspiring post. Well at least an informative post. But nothing is really new.
No one has brought me any babies for me to play with
I have debated telling you all Brian’s and my solution to the football lockout but figure that would bore all of you to death
Brian is still in limbo which has me in limbo and it is still driving us nuts. I have decided that he will not be a Stay at Home Dad. He would be great with kids but he needs to work…I get to stay at home if anyone does J
I haven’t cooked any interesting and easy recipes lately
I don’t have any crazy guest stories for you (yay!)
Still trying to finish the left over’s from the Superbowl
Today is Vday which is a holiday we tend to skip or celebrate VERY late...we will see what we do this year....
Really, the only thing that we have been doing is working, knitting, watching Top Gear (BBC version of course) and playing DDO. Hopefully we will have something exciting and new to post about.
Kinda boring 100th post :-\

Random
- Knitting: I still love it. I took Friday night off to let my thumb rest and I was hanging out with our friend Al and his knew gf Nina. I think I have gotten fast enough that one square can be done in 2 days so that would be 3 1/2 squares a week if I do nothing else. I am impressed with how fast I have gotten. If I do 3 1/2 squares in a week that would be great but I think that might be a bit much to shoot for. Basically, I want to come home and knit and go from there. By the time this posts I will have 2 squares total leaving 318 to do..though my Mom would before 62 left :) The numbers make sense if you knew a more about the project.
- Brian's new nickname for me: Knitwit due to my obsessive knitting
- Work is picking up! I am always on the phone fortunately the people are nice so far and are booking. January's commission was awful I blame that on too many monthlies and switching systems :). Have not yet figured out what December's commission was. Yes I know December comes before January but we switched computer system's Dec 1st and that has made things wonky
- My parents are coming over my Dad's birthday in March and I am so excited!
- I am in the midst of reading another Nora Roberts book. This is the first book in the Irish Trilogy and I am loving it so far. I have decided to read at work when phones/guests allow. One of my monthlies came down and saw I was reading a Nora Roberts book and gave me another one! This one has two books in one! SO excited! I have a big list of books to get through now :)
- Brian is going nuts being at home M-F with nothing to do. His DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online for the none geeks hehe) account is getting a LOT of attention
That is about it...not much going on here

Knitting Part 2
I have finished one square and started the other. I started the second a bit late due to the loss of a knitting needle but I think I have caught up.
The hardest part is trying to figure out how to make sure my squares are the same size. I tried counting the stitches but that looked WAY too small so I did as many stitches needed to get the right length. That looked right but as I continued knitting it became very clear that was wrong as well. So at 8pm last night I had to start over. I should still be able to finish this square by Sunday.
My hands still hurt. My left thumb is still the main culprit. My other knuckles don't hurt as much as they did in the beginning of the first sqaure. I can bend it but it hurts. It will be almost back to normal by the time I pick up the knitting again. My fingers have started to crack more (yes I know awful habit but if I don't crack them they will hurt and won't move as easily) and as long as I crack them everything is fine.
I am really enjoying the knitting. I am finding it very relaxing and it is my favorite part of the day. I can't wait to get home and back to my knitting. It doesn't matter that I am doing the same thing over and over...I think that is what I like about it...I don't have to focus on it yet I get something done. I am glad my projects are going to take awhile so I don't have to come up with a new one :)
