The House: 12.7.11

The house visit went a little better then last week but somehow I ended up with 70 pictures....I promise I will not post them all. They did start to fix some of the problems (outside of the Island) that they did last week.

The biggest things was that they were supposed to trim the HVAC on the 4th and on the 3rd the HVAC was not even on the property let alone set up. This causes an issue because the wood floors are supposed to be put down on the 9th and they need a week to acclimate. The other big issue, and we didnt realize how big until the next day, is that they drilled a hole in our garage. The head builder forgot, didnt check the plans and assumed we were getting a regular water heater and apparently a regular water heater needs a pole to protect it. However, they placed the hole (where the pole would go) so far out into the garage that we would not have been able to park two cars like we were supposed to. After he was reminded that we were getting a tankless water heater and could we possibly move the pole, if it was still required, he realized the hole was not necessary and should not have been drilled and needs to be fixed. So they have drilled an unnecessary hole in cement which they would have known they did not need to do if they were paying even the smallest bit of attention to the house we were building. Again, a perk of building your own home is that it is supposed to be built to your specifications....in order to do that the builders should be looking at your specifications. I think it is becoming clear that that is not what is happening here as each week we have to remind them of our specifications which are easily seen in our plans and contract and are very noticeable specifications.

Oh and the head builder seems to think that the house being finished has nothing to do with us closing. We may technically be able to close before the house is technically finished however that is not going to work for us. A) we refuse to sign over the money and then deal with trying to get them to come and finish (we KNOW they would drag their feet once they get paid) and B) we have to move the same day we close and C) we had to give notice so as of Jan 1st we would be couch surfing if this house gets delayed (staying in the apartment is another issue)

That is about it for the house...I saved you about 30 pictures...
