The house 10.1.11

Brian had a brilliant idea. He thought we should take pictures each week of the lot and see it go up! I thought I would post them here so you all can see them as well.

Brian is not happy with Citizens Homes and if he could back out without losing money he would. I am upset too but I don't think I am that upset. We had to set up a pre-construction meeting and the builder WOULD NOT meet us late or early and wanted us to take time off from work to meet with him. We can't take time off and we shouldnt have to either. Heather called Brian and he basically, politely, let her have it reminding her that we are paying them,  Head builder guys is basically our employee, how the house is due to be finished in early December and that means either they do really shoddy work in the rush or there are no other houses to build so everyone is working on ours, and that the housing market just took a dip. The builder guy can stay late or come in early, he is in construction not working for a bank. If they were just doing landscape or building a shed, maybe but we are paying them to build us a house. Anyway, we worked it out that we did the meeting with Heather and Heather will submit the documents. We did opt to wire the house with Cat 6 (Cat 5 is basically old news and Cat 6 will keep us up to date longer. We wanted Fiber Optic but that is just too much money and it doesnt make sense in this day in age still) so now there is a question of whether we get a phone line. Heather misread it at first so we think we still get the phone line and cat 6 but Heather is double checking for us and will let Brian know on Monday.  We brought Al, our friend who knows construction, to the meeting with us. Poor Al, because of Brian's new found mistrust of the head builder, will be going with Brian (and I?) each week to check on the building of the house and will go to the meetings as well to make sure they do everything right. Brian is also hoping Al's dad will come as his dad also knows a lot about construction. We were always going to check up on them but we probably would not have brought Al and may not be SO hands on if the Head Builder guy was as flexible with us as everyone else had been. They just bought themselves a headache :)

Anyway on to the pictures.

This is what the lot looked like in June when we first saw it:

They are already starting to work on our lot!

I will do a better job next Saturday getting pictures in the same angle, we were in a bit of a rush getting to the meeting with Heather but I think this is definitely a good start. I like the head on look but I definitely want more from the side views as well. I am getting excited about weekend project at the house :) So much fun and something to do!
